I love being in front of the classroom teaching others about CPR, but my favorite part is being part of a team that never fails to make me laugh. Major: Neuroscience and Russian Studies Hometown: San Francisco, CA My favorite thing about teaching CPR, First Aid, and BLS is working with people who are so caring and passionate about sharing their skills and knowledge. I love being a member of this team and family knowing that with every class we teach together, we are empowering others to save lives. When I am not teaching CPR, I enjoy exploring my culture, as well as others. I delight in singing in Russian, as well as dancing the traditional Russian dance. Major: Physiological Science Hometown: Dinuba, California My name is Emilio Rodriguez, and this is my second year teaching CPR and first aid. I am a fourth year physiological science major from Dinuba, a small town in the central valley of California. My favorite thing about teaching CPR is getting to meet new people from all walks of life, and helping them get prepared for real life emergency situations. Some of my favorite things to do are watching sports and riding ATVs. As of right now, I am aspiring to be an orthopedic surgeon as I hope to someday work with athletes in order to get them healthy. It is amazing how simply teaching one individual about emergency medicine can really impact the lives of others outside the classroom. Major: Marine Biology Hometown: Los Angeles, California There are so many misconceptions about CPR so being able to teach and pass down the correct knowledge and techniques is great! Since I love animals so much my ultimate goal is to become a veterinarian for domestic pets and a shark biologist. I hope to live in Hawaii for a while to protect endangered sharks. Although living in Hawaii is ideal, there's no place like home! My favorite things to do in LA are explore coffee shops, hike, surf, or go home and build a fort of blankets and watch movie marathons with my dog. John Aurthur Reyes Jr.3rd Year
Major: Psychobiology Hometown: Hemet, California I was born in Saesbo, Japan where I spent the first five years of my life on an American military base. I spent the majority of my life in California; specifically a town in riverside county called Hemet. Some of my favorite experiences from my time at UCLA include operating the UCLA EMS ambulance, performing in the Samahang Pilipino Culture Night, and being apart of the CPR family. Some of my hobbies include boxing, swimming, and cooking. I hope one day to serve the public as either a physician assistant in Emergency Medicine or a firefighter. Justine Aziz

My favorite aspect of teaching is how every class is slightly different and I actually end up learning something new each time around. Some of my favorite things include scary movies, hot cheetos and sleeping. My plan is to get into medical school (fingers crossed) and see what happens from there. Major: Biology Hometown: San Jose, California My name is Alina and this is my first year in the CPR/First Aid Program! My favorite parts of teaching CPR are promoting values of health and wellness within my community and sharing my passion for medicine in a way that one day might actually save someone’s life. I am very excited to be a new member of the CPR family and cannot wait to absorb all of the wisdom that these lovely folks have to offer me. Some of my hobbies include surfing poorly, skiing slightly above average, and singing loudly and off-tune. Major: Molecular, Cell, and Developmental Biology Hometown: San Diego, California I am honored to have the opportunity to give people the tools to rescue others in the event of an emergency, and I’m incredibly grateful to be a part of this amazing team of instructors as well. It is inspiring to hear stories of regular people saving other’s lives with CPR, and I’m glad to have a role in helping people in this way. Major: Physiological Science Hometown: Davis, California I'm a first year instructor and am so excited to meet new people and teach them a skill that they can use in the real world to save someone's life. I'm a huge sports fan, especially of soccer, but will watch just about any sport out there. I hope to combine my love of sports with my interest in science and become involved in sports medicine in the future, so that I can help athletes get back to playing in the games they love. I think a teacher should be engaging and enthusiastic and I make an effort to exemplify those characteristics when I teach. I love to dance, ski, cook, and swim! My absolute favorite foods are pasta and popcorn. A fun fact about me is that even though I grew up in Texas, I was born at the UCLA hospital! I love teaching because I enjoy meeting new people and sharing information that has the potential to save lives. Some fun facts about me is that I have baked for a party of 300 people, I can speak fluent Flemish, and I trained my Golden Retriever Bowie to be a licensed Therapy Dog. Major: Linguistics and Psychology Hometown: Torrance, California Since I can remember, I have held an intense interest in health care and the health community. I’ve always felt like there has been less emphasis on basic health prevention being placed on individual grade school students, especially in my community, and perhaps the root of these issues start from here. The solution to improving health was to teach and after becoming CPR/ First Aid instructor, my goal of teaching emergency preparedness to students and promoting to safety has been fulfilled. My studies in public health have shaped my views on health care and have allowed me to see that health goes way beyond the clinical setting. Through this program I am fortunate to be part of a wonderful organization that allows me to exercise my passions of health promotion and education in my community. I think it is incredible how teaching someone CPR is like preparing him/her with the skills to potentially save a life. I am very excited to be a part of this amazing, energetic CPR family! I love to run, swim, surf, Netflix, and go backpacking in my free time. Fun fact: I love learning Latin and I hope (if time allows!) to major in it. |
