NIVI AHLAWATCO-DIRECTOR
Hi! My name is Nivi and I am a fourth year Neuroscience student at UCLA. Joining the CPR and First Aid Program at the start of my freshman year was one of the best decisions I've made. I love how I am able to incorporate my passions for healthcare and science through teaching CPR, First Aid, and BLS classes, alongside other highly motivated UCLA students that I am proud to call my closest friends. In addition, it is very exciting and fulfilling to work with such a diversity of students that take our classes, from aspiring EMTs to hospital volunteers to expecting parents.
One of my favorite aspects to the UCLA/CPR Program is the strong sense of community and teamwork among all the instructors. We are a very social and close-knit team, which makes our teaching more effective! I am also proud of the fact that we are able to provide low-cost, high-quality American Heart Association courses. I believe the information we teach in our classes is truly life-saving, and access to that education should not be restricted. I look forward to seeing you at one of our classes! |
KARTIK GARGCO-DIRECTOR
Hi guys, my name is Kartik. As someone interested in emergency medicine, teaching CPR/FA for the past 4 years has widened my appreciation and passion for the medical field. I love teaching people new things, and I feel good knowing that I am able to empower the UCLA community with the skills and knowledge needed to react in an emergency situation. One of my goals is to become a physician, hopefully in a field that involves pediatrics. Take one of our classes with our awesome instructors!

DULSHAN JAYASEKERAPUBLICITY AND DESIGN CHAIR
Hello hello! My name is Dulshan and I'm a fourth year MIMG major and Study of Religion minor at UCLA. This program has honestly been THE highlight of my UCLA journey. Not only does it give you an incredible platform through which to empower your community, but it also connects you with the most honest, genuine, and compassionate people on campus and gives you a home away from home. I am extremely thankful to CPR/FA for so positively impacting both my outlook on life and my journey through UCLA over these past three years <3
I absolutely love how this program provides you with mentorship opportunities which help you grow as an instructor, student, and person. I firmly believe that the message we spread on campus of heart health and first aid is extremely important and encourage anyone who isn't CPR/FA certified to come get certified at one of our classes! |
Helena VervaetINSTRUCTOR DEVELOPMENT CHAIR
One of my favorite things about teaching CPR is the pile of cringe-worthy jokes the instructors have compiled over the years. It's such a fun time to engage our students and make them crack a smile by throwing in some funny moments as they get a workout from all of those compressions (If you want to see how bad our jokes are, you'll have to take one of our classes yourself!) Some of my favorite things include my two super-sweet dogs, Pippin and Sophie, watching baking shows/videos that I'm not skilled enough to recreate myself, and exploring new places in LA to go hiking or get some amazing food (Especially cupcakes).

As a second year instructor, this program has given me the opportunity to improve my teaching skills while surrounded by friends. There's never a dull moment in this club, whether its getting beat by Ekaterina in Kahoot or belting out lyrics by a bonfire. When I'm not teaching, you could probably find me watching/playing sports, hanging out with friends, or taking a nap. In the future, I hope to become a Sports Medicine Doctor so that one day I can help athletes return to the games they love.

This is my first year in the CPR/First Aid Program. My favorite parts of teaching CPR are promoting values of health and wellness within my community and sharing my passion for medicine in a way that one day might actually save someone's life. Some of my hobbies include surfing poorly, skiing moderately, and singing loudly and off-tune. My future goals are to become a pediatric oncologist and to win an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress.

DEREK SPORTSMANINSTRUCTOR LIAISON AND SOCIAL CHAIR
I've never found a group of people so dedicated not only to what they do, but also to each other, and I'm so grateful to be able to call myself a part of the CPR family. The passion exhibited by each instructor on our team creates a really great teaching and social dynamic, making them some of the closest friends I have here at UCLA.
Outside of CPR, I'm involved in Residential Life as a proud RA of Rieber 3 South!!! I love my residents, my co, and my staff, and generally, you can find that I'm happiest with the people I've learned to love in all my activities and living experiences. My biggest dream for myself is that I will continue to develop these valuable friendships and be happy with my closest squad later in life, when all of us have found the careers that are right for us. And who knows what that will be? Stay tuned! |

I enjoy teaching and giving people the tools to rescue others in the event of an emergency. Most of all, I love being surrounded by so many amazing individuals who teach me new things every day. Outside of CPR, I enjoy trying new foods, traveling to new places, and finding new reasons to smile!

Hi I'm Carlyn! I have a hardcore love for teaching CPR and the amazing people I've gotten to know since joining the program my freshman year. My fellow instructors have become my best friends/family, and the experiences I've had through this program have been invaluable to my college experience. Take a class with us and experience for yourself the true #CPRLove.
In my free time, I like to kick it with my friends, try a new workout, create new Spotify playlists, and dish out some wicked puns. I have no idea what I'm going to do with my life, so for now I'll just stick to teaching CPR, a truly breathtaking experience. |
